Questions & Answers

Netherlands Visa FAQ

Do I need a visa for Netherlands?

▼
No. US passport holders can enter Netherlands without a visa for stays of up to 90 days.

Which Netherlands visa do I need?

▼
Visa type depends on the purpose of your trip. Select your passport above to see what is available to you.

How long can I stay in Netherlands?

▼
Up to 90 days per visit.

Is the Netherlands visa single or multiple entry?

▼
Entry conditions depend on the visa type you choose — short-stay visas are often single or double entry, while longer-validity visas are usually multiple entry. The entry type is shown before you pay.

Which nationalities do not need a visa for Netherlands?

▼
Citizens of 103 countries do not need a visa for Netherlands, including Albania, Andorra, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina and Aruba. Choose your passport above to check yours.

How much does a Netherlands visa cost?

▼
On a US passport the government fee is $0.00 and our service fee starts at $59.00, so a standard application totals $59.00. Government fees are set by Netherlands and vary by nationality and visa type.

Why is there a service fee on top of the government fee?

▼
The government fee is paid to Netherlands. Our fee covers checking your photo, passport details and supporting documents against the current rules before the application is filed — the errors that cause most rejections — plus tracking and support until your visa is issued.

What happens if my application is refused?

▼
Our service fee is refunded if we cannot deliver your approved visa. Where the refusal is caused by an error on our side we correct and resubmit at no extra charge. Government fees are not refundable once an application has been filed.

How long does a Netherlands visa take?

▼
Government processing normally takes 3–5 days. Netherlands asks travellers to apply at least 4 days before arrival, and no government guarantees a decision date — apply as early as you can.

How do I apply for a Netherlands visa online?

▼
Complete our application form — it takes most travellers five to ten minutes — and upload your passport page and photo. A specialist reviews everything before submission, files it on the government portal, and emails your approved visa.

What documents do I need for a Netherlands visa?

▼
A passport valid for at least six months on the date you arrive, a recent digital photograph that meets Netherlands's specification, and a scan of your passport biographical page. Business and medical applications also need supporting paperwork such as an invitation or hospital letter.

What are the Netherlands visa photo requirements?

▼
A recent, front-facing colour photograph with a plain white background, no glasses and no head covering except for religious reasons. Photo problems are one of the most common causes of refusal, so we check yours against the current specification before filing.

Can I apply for my whole family at once?

▼
Yes. Set the number of travellers in the pricing panel and we manage the applications together so names, dates and documents stay consistent across the group.

How do I use my Netherlands visa at the airport?

▼
Carry a printed copy of your approved visa PDF along with your passport. Immigration scans it at the counter; some airlines also check it before boarding, so have it printed before you get to the airport.

Can I extend my Netherlands visa?

▼
No. Netherlands does not extend this visa — you must leave the country and apply again.

What are the Netherlands overstay penalties?

▼
Around $8 per day overstayed. Overstaying can also mean a multi-year entry ban and removal, and it is recorded against future applications.
