When should I apply for a Vietnam visa?
A Vietnam visa application should start as soon as your travel dates are settled, because a pre-checked application protects your timeline.
Some passports need an eVisa for Vietnam, some can enter visa-free for a limited stay, and some need another type of visa. Your passport decides which applies, and our visa checker shows the answer for yours.
The safest habit is simple: apply once your dates are fixed, not in the last week. That leaves room to correct a document if our pre-check finds a problem.
| Step | What happens with us |
|---|---|
| You apply | You give us your details and documents |
| We pre-check | Our team reviews your documents before anything is submitted |
| We submit | We send your application in for you |
| Your eVisa arrives | The government reviews it, then your eVisa is delivered to you |
What can change the timing of a Vietnam visa?
The most common timing problem is a missing or unusable document, which our pre-check catches before anything is submitted.
In our review of applications over , our pre-check caught a missing or unusable document on before submission. Those figures come from our passport work, and the same pre-check discipline applies to your visa documents.
Fixing a problem before submission is quicker than fixing it after. For costs, read our guide on how much a Vietnam visa costs.
