Question 1

Can I travel to Vietnam without a visa?

Accepted Answer

Vietnam currently waives tourist visas for holders of these passports: 39 countries. How long you can stay depends on the rule covering your nationality. Several major European and Asian countries are exempt under Government Resolution 44/NQ-CP, which runs until 14 March 2028, and a further group of European countries is exempt for tourism trips. For your passport, Vietnam asks for an eVisa for most passports. If your passport isn't on the list, or you want to stay longer than your exemption allows, you'll need an e-Visa before you travel. Visa-free visitors still need the Pre-Arrival Declaration and a passport valid for six months.

Question 2

Do Filipinos need a tourist visa for Vietnam?

Accepted Answer

The visa-free stay for Philippine ordinary passports is shorter than the one many European passports get, so check your dates before you book. Diplomatic and official passports have their own, longer allowance. If your trip will run past the visa-free period, get an eVisa before you travel. It allows a stay of up to 90 days. Whichever way you enter, carry a passport with plenty of validity left, be ready to show a return or onward ticket, and complete the Pre-Arrival Declaration if you're flying in.

Question 3

Do Singaporeans need a visa to go to Vietnam?

Accepted Answer

Singapore is on Vietnam's visa exemption list, so for a holiday you can simply fly in with your passport. Visa-free stays have a fixed limit, and if you plan to stay longer you'll need an e-Visa before you travel. Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date, be ready to show a return or onward ticket if asked, and complete Vietnam's online Pre-Arrival Declaration before landing so you have the QR code ready for immigration.

Question 4

Do UK citizens need a visa for Vietnam?

Accepted Answer

The United Kingdom is one of the countries Vietnam has exempted from visas by government resolution, so for a short holiday you can arrive with just your passport. The exemption has a set stay limit and runs for a fixed period, so check it before booking a long trip. If you want to stay longer, apply for an e-Visa before you travel. Your passport should be valid for at least six months after you arrive, carry proof of a return or onward ticket, and complete the online Pre-Arrival Declaration before you land.

Question 5

Can Indian citizens get a Vietnam e-Visa or a visa on arrival?

Accepted Answer

Indian travellers need an eVisa for Vietnam, and the Indian Embassy in Hanoi advises having your visa approved before you fly. There are two routes: the e-Visa, done entirely online, or a visa from a Vietnamese embassy or consulate in India. The embassy's guidance doesn't list a visa on arrival, so don't plan on getting one at the airport. The government fee is $25 for a single-entry e-Visa and $50 for multiple entry. Processing usually takes about 3 days. Before you travel, check that the name, passport number and dates on your e-Visa match your passport exactly. PassportsAndVisas.com can complete and submit the e-Visa application for you.

Question 6

How much does a Vietnam visa cost?

Accepted Answer

The government fee for a single-entry e-Visa is $25 for most passports. A multiple-entry e-Visa costs $50 for most passports. You pay online once your application has been submitted and given a registration code, and the government doesn't add a separate processing charge. If your passport is visa-exempt but you plan to stay longer than the exemption allows, you'll need an e-Visa and pay the same government fee. Visa services charge their own fee on top; PassportsAndVisas.com shows its service fee clearly before you pay.

Question 7

Is the Vietnam e-Visa free for Indian citizens?

Accepted Answer

Indian passport holders need an eVisa for a tourist trip to Vietnam. The government fee for a single-entry e-Visa is $25. A multiple-entry e-Visa costs $50. You pay online after submitting the form, and the fee isn't refunded if the application is refused, so double-check your details and photo before paying. PassportsAndVisas.com can fill in and submit the application for you and handle the payment.

Question 8

What is the cheapest way to get a Vietnam visa?

Accepted Answer

First, check whether you need a visa at all: your passport needs an eVisa for most passports for a tourist trip to Vietnam. If you do need an e-Visa, the single-entry option costs less. The government fee for the single-entry e-Visa is $25 for most passports. The multiple-entry e-Visa costs $50 for most passports, so only choose it if you plan to leave Vietnam and come back on the same trip. If you apply yourself on the government's own e-Visa portal, that fee is all you pay. If you'd rather have help with the form, photo and checks, PassportsAndVisas.com can complete the application for you for a service fee.

Question 9

Is my Vietnam e-Visa linked to my passport?

Accepted Answer

There's nothing extra to link. Your name and passport number go into the e-Visa itself when it's issued. Check them character by character, because immigration compares your printed e-Visa with the passport you hand over. You also have to enter and leave Vietnam on the same passport, and arrive at the entry point you chose when you applied. If you renew or replace your passport before the trip, the old e-Visa won't match the new one, so you'll need a new e-Visa. If you hold two passports, apply with the one you'll actually travel on.

Question 10

What is the official Vietnam e-Visa website?

Accepted Answer

Both addresses lead to the same government system, which moved to these domains in November 2024, so older bookmarks on xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn now send you there. The Ministry of Public Security's own public service portal also accepts e-Visa applications. Before you pay, check that the address ends in .gov.vn so you know you're on the government system. The e-Visa is only issued to people who are outside Vietnam when they apply, and once it's approved you print it yourself and carry it for your trip. If you'd prefer not to handle the form, PassportsAndVisas.com can complete and submit it for you.
