Do I need a visa to visit Israel as a tourist?

It depends on your nationality. Citizens of about 96 countries that are visa-exempt (including the US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia) must now get a free-of-charge-style ETA-IL online before travel instead of a visa. All other nationalities need a visa, either the eVisa-B2 (currently only India/Sri Lanka residents) or a Visitor Visa from an Israeli embassy.

The ETA-IL is Israel's mandatory Electronic Travel Authorization that visa-exempt visitors must get online before boarding a flight or arriving at any Israeli border.

How long can I stay in Israel on an ETA-IL?

An approved ETA-IL allows a stay of up to 90 days per visit.

Who is exempt from the ETA-IL requirement?

Israeli citizens, holders of certain Israeli visas (B1,B3,B4,A1-A5), diplomats on official missions, crew listed on Crew APIS and seamen with a valid seaman's certificate do not need an ETA-IL.

Is the eVisa-B2 available to all visa-required nationalities?

No. The eVisa-B2 pilot is currently only open to Indian and Sri Lankan passport holders residing in India or Sri Lanka; other visa-required nationalities must apply at an Israeli embassy or consulate.

How much does the ETA-IL cost?

The official government fee is 25 NIS (about $7 USD), paid online by card.

How long is the ETA-IL valid for?

The ETA-IL stays valid for up to 2 years, or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

How far in advance should I apply for the ETA-IL?

PIBA recommends submitting your ETA-IL application at least 72 hours before booking flights, hotels or other related expenses.

What happens if I get a new passport after my ETA-IL is approved?

You must apply for a new ETA-IL any time you change passports, name, gender or citizenship, since the authorization is linked to the original document.

Can I get an Israeli visa on arrival?

No. All travelers must have a valid visa or an approved ETA-IL before they start their journey to Israel; nothing is issued at the border for short tourist stays.

Visa Policy

Israel Visa Policy for Malaysian Citizens

Israel's visa policy for Malaysian citizens requires advance application before travel. The embassy visa process requires submission to the nearest Israel consulate or embassy. The government fee of $27 is set by Israel immigration authorities and is subject to change. PassportsAndVisas.com monitors policy updates daily and will notify you of any fee changes after your application is submitted.

Rush processing is available for travelers with imminent departure dates. The Visitor Visa (B/2) is issued, and the 90-day stay period begins on arrival.

Travel Context

Traveling to Israel from Malaysia — What to Know Before You Go

Planning a trip to Israel from Malaysia involves a few key logistics beyond the visa. Direct flights are available from major Malaysia hubs to Israel's main international airports, with flight times varying depending on your departure city. We recommend booking refundable tickets until your visa is approved — PassportsAndVisas.com's service fee is charged only after visa approval, so you are not committed financially before your visa is confirmed.

Passport preparation is the most important step. Your Malaysia passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining beyond your departure date from Israel, and at least 2 blank pages for entry stamps. If your passport is expiring soon, PassportsAndVisas.com can expedite Malaysia passport renewal — often faster than standard government processing times.

Once your Israel visa is approved, you will receive a PDF confirmation by email. Print this document and carry it with your passport — some Israel border officials require a physical copy, even for eVisas. Save a digital backup on your phone as well. Your visa details will also be linked to your passport number in Israel's immigration database.

Application Guide

What Malaysian Citizens Need Before Applying

Applying for an Israel visa as a Malaysian citizen through PassportsAndVisas.com takes 5–10 minutes online. You will need your Malaysia passport (valid for 6+ months), a digital passport photo meeting Israel's exact specifications, and your travel dates. Our system guides you through each field and flags potential errors before submission.

The most common reason Malaysian citizens face Israel visa rejection is passport photo non-compliance. Israel requires a white background, the size shown on the government portal dimensions, taken within the last 6 months, with no glasses. Our proprietary photo-check system automatically validates your photo against Israel's requirements before we submit — catching the errors that cause the majority of preventable rejections.

After submission, your application is reviewed by a Malaysian-specialist on our team — someone familiar with the specific patterns that trigger scrutiny for Malaysia passport holders. We submit to Israel Immigration within 2 hours of receiving your complete file. You will receive email updates throughout the process, and your approved visa PDF will be delivered to your inbox — typically within 5–15 business days.
