Question 1

Do Chinese citizens need a visa for Brazil?

Accepted Answer

Brazil's temporary waiver began on 11 May 2026 and covers valid ordinary passports issued by the People's Republic of China. It allows multiple entries, but there's a cap on total time in Brazil per migratory year (the 12 months starting from your first entry), and the stay can't be extended. It covers tourism, business, transit, crew duties and artistic or sports activities. It doesn't cover work. If you need a longer stay, are traveling for a different purpose, or are traveling after the waiver ends, get a Brazilian visa before you go. A Brazilian visitor visa for Chinese passport holders costs $85.

Question 2

What do I need to travel to Brazil?

Accepted Answer

Brazil sets its entry rules by nationality: some passports can visit visa-free, some apply for an eVisa online, and others need a visa from a Brazilian embassy or consulate. Whatever your passport, carry proof of onward or return travel, since airlines and border officers can ask for it. Yellow fever vaccination isn't required to enter, but it's recommended for parts of Brazil. If you're bringing goods above the duty-free allowance or more than US$10,000 in cash, complete the free e-DBV customs declaration online. Children under 18 applying for a visa need extra documents, including parental consent. If you need a Brazil visa or eVisa, PassportsAndVisas.com can handle the application for you.

Question 3

Do British citizens need a visa or ETA to visit Brazil?

Accepted Answer

UK passport holders don't need a Brazilian visitor visa or any online pre-approval for tourism. The exemption covers a set number of days per year, counted from your first entry, and you can come and go more than once within that allowance. Paid work isn't allowed. Bring a valid passport and proof of your return or onward flight, which airlines may ask for at check-in. If you want to stay longer than the exemption allows, arrange the right visa with a Brazilian consulate before you travel.

Question 4

Do Indian passport holders need a visa for Brazil?

Accepted Answer

Indian citizens can't use Brazil's online tourist eVisa: tourism and family visits require a Visitor Visa (VIVIS) applied for in person. Only business visitors who meet strict conditions, including signing documents electronically through DigiLocker with Aadhaar, may apply for a business e-visa online. The government fee is $80. Processing usually takes about 21 days. Have your passport, photo and a flight reservation showing your arrival and departure dates ready. PassportsAndVisas.com can prepare your application and check your documents before you submit.

Question 5

Do Canadians need a visa to visit Brazil?

Accepted Answer

A Canadian passport on its own isn't enough to enter Brazil, so sort out your visa before you book anything you can't change. Most Canadians apply online through Brazil's official visa portal. The government fee is $80.90. Processing usually takes about 10 days. Each visit can last up to 90 days. At the border, officers may also ask for a return or onward ticket and proof that you have enough money for your stay. If you want to stay longer, get an extension from Brazil's Federal Police before your permitted stay runs out. PassportsAndVisas.com can complete the application for you.

Question 6

Do US citizens need a visa to visit Brazil?

Accepted Answer

Brazil brought back visas for American visitors on 10 April 2025, mirroring the visa the US asks of Brazilians. You apply online through Brazil's official eVisa portal, with no consulate visit needed. Don't set off while your application is still being processed: without an approved visa you won't be let in. The government fee is $80.90. Processing usually takes about 10 days. You'll also need a passport valid for your whole stay and proof of a return or onward trip. Fill in the free e-DBV customs form only if you carry goods or cash that must be declared. US citizens who are also Brazilian should enter on their Brazilian passport. PassportsAndVisas.com can complete the eVisa application for you.

Question 7

Do I need an eVisa to visit Brazil?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the passport you travel on, not where you live: with your passport you need a visa from an embassy or consulate for most passports for Brazil. The eVisa is the electronic version of Brazil's visitor visa. You apply entirely online with no consulate visit, and the approved visa arrives by email. If you are also a Brazilian citizen, you can't get any Brazilian visa and must enter on a valid Brazilian passport. If your passport isn't eligible for the eVisa, you will either visit visa-free or apply for a visitor visa through a Brazilian embassy or consulate. PassportsAndVisas.com can complete the eVisa application for you.

Question 8

How much does a Brazil visa cost?

Accepted Answer

The government fee for Brazil's tourist eVisa is $80.90, paid online when you apply. Consular visitor visas are paid to the embassy or consulate, often in local currency. For example, Toronto lists its fee in Canadian dollars, with some exceptions depending on the applicant's category. For your passport, the consular visitor visa fee is $85 for most passports. Payment methods vary too: some US consulates accept only money orders. If you can travel visa-free, there's no visa fee at all. PassportsAndVisas.com can handle the eVisa for you and shows our service fee before you pay.

Question 9

Do children and diplomatic passport holders pay the same Brazil eVisa fee?

Accepted Answer

There's no reduced rate based on age or passport type. Each child has their own application and pays the full fee, even when the whole family applies together. The government fee for the tourist eVisa is $80.90 for most passports. Diplomatic and special passport holders from eVisa countries aren't exempt either: they still need an eVisa to enter Brazil. Children under 18 also upload extra documents, such as a notarized authorization letter from both parents and a birth certificate.

Question 10

Can I get a refund on my Brazil eVisa fee?

Accepted Answer

The official policy has no exceptions: once a fee is paid, it stays paid, whether the application is refused or a second payment went through by accident. Before paying, check each traveler's details against their passport and make sure you submit only one payment per application. If you reapply after a denial, the new application needs a new fee. PassportsAndVisas.com checks every application before it's submitted to help you avoid paying twice.
