Do I need a visa to visit Belgium as a tourist?

It depends on your nationality. EU/EEA/Swiss citizens travel freely with just a passport or ID card. Citizens of roughly 60 other countries (the Schengen 'Annex II' visa-exempt list, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia and most of Latin America) can visit for up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa. All other nationalities need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before travel.

How long can I stay in Belgium without a visa?

Visa-exempt nationals can stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period, counted across the whole Schengen Area, not just Belgium.

How much does a Belgium (Schengen) tourist visa cost?

The standard Schengen short-stay visa fee is €90 for adults. A reduced fee of €35 applies to applicants from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus under EU facilitation agreements.

How long does a Belgium Schengen visa take to process?

The normal processing time is 15 calendar days, which can be extended up to 45 days if a more detailed examination or extra documents are needed.

When should I apply for a Belgium Schengen visa?

Applications should be submitted no earlier than 6 months before travel and at least 15 days before the intended journey.

What passport validity do I need to enter Belgium?

Your passport should be valid for at least 3 months after the date you intend to leave the Schengen Area and, for Annex II visa-exempt nationals, must generally have been issued within the last 10 years.

Travel Context

Traveling to Belgium from Bangladesh — What to Know Before You Go

Planning a trip to Belgium from Bangladesh involves a few key logistics beyond the visa. Direct flights are available from major Bangladesh hubs to Belgium's main international airports, with flight times varying depending on your departure city. We recommend booking refundable tickets until your visa is approved — PassportsAndVisas.com's service fee is charged only after visa approval, so you are not committed financially before your visa is confirmed.

Passport preparation is the most important step. Your Bangladesh passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining beyond your departure date from Belgium, and at least 2 blank pages for entry stamps. If your passport is expiring soon, PassportsAndVisas.com can expedite Bangladesh passport renewal — often faster than standard government processing times.

Once your Belgium visa is approved, you will receive a PDF confirmation by email. Print this document and carry it with your passport — some Belgium border officials require a physical copy, even for eVisas. Save a digital backup on your phone as well. Your visa details will also be linked to your passport number in Belgium's immigration database.

Application Guide

What Bangladeshi Citizens Need Before Applying

Applying for a Belgium visa as a Bangladeshi citizen through PassportsAndVisas.com takes 5–10 minutes online. You will need your Bangladesh passport (valid for 6+ months), a digital passport photo meeting Belgium's exact specifications, and your travel dates. Our system guides you through each field and flags potential errors before submission.

The most common reason Bangladeshi citizens face Belgium visa rejection is passport photo non-compliance. Belgium requires a white background, the size shown on the government portal dimensions, taken within the last 6 months, with no glasses. Our proprietary photo-check system automatically validates your photo against Belgium's requirements before we submit — catching the errors that cause the majority of preventable rejections.

After submission, your application is reviewed by a Bangladeshi-specialist on our team — someone familiar with the specific patterns that trigger scrutiny for Bangladesh passport holders. We submit to Belgium Immigration within 2 hours of receiving your complete file. You will receive email updates throughout the process, and your approved visa PDF will be delivered to your inbox — typically within 50–60 business days.
