Ireland - Student visa - Service: Visa Requirements

Download, fully complete, print, and sign one copy of the Ireland visa application form. 

PLEASE NOTE: the application form is attached as a sample as well.

Provide your SIGNED passport. Your passport must be signed on the appropriate line. (For US citizens the line is located on the page following your information page). The passport must be valid with an expiration date greater than six (6) months from the date of entry for the visa you are applying for. Passport must have sufficient blank pages (at least 2 pages) for any visa stamps. These pages must say VISAS at the top of the page.  

If your passport does not meet the requirements, we can assist with renewing a US Passport or obtain a new US Passport from us prior to obtaining the visa.

(Important Note:  Keep a copy of your passport biographical information page for your records)

You must provide a passport photo. This passport photo must match the requirements of a standard US passport photo. They must be taken at an official passport photo provider (pharmacy, Costco, post office).  You can upload a digitial photo here for us to process.

Photo Requirements:

- Your head must face the camera directly with full face in view.

- You must have a neutral facial expression or a natural smile, with both eyes open.

- Taken in clothing normally worn on a daily basis

- Taken in the last 6 months

- Use a plain white or off-white background

A notarized copy of immigration status in the country of residence such as a resident card, work, or study permit. 

Bank statements for the past 3 months show evidence of sufficient funds and stamped with the official stamp of the bank. If the statements cannot be stamped then the applicant needs to provide a letter from the bank verifying the authenticity of the statements.

Copy of computer generated round trip tickets or travel itinerary showing round trip travel entering Ireland and exiting Ireland.  Preferably, the proof of departure documents should show your departure from the United States to Ireland and back.  Additionally, the Applicant's name must be on the travel document.  

Proof of international health insurance and specifically covering travel to Ireland is required. 

An original and one copy of a letter from your employer on business letterhead, with contact details, purpose and duration of the trip and that you will be returning to your current job.

If you are self-employed, include a copy of your business license and tax return.

If you are retired please submit proof of your retirement funds.

If visiting friends or family, you must provide letter of invitation with the contact information of the host and visitor, purpose and duration of the visit, confirmation of accommodation including the address, signature and date.

Statement of Undertaking form filled out by the host in Ireland. This form is available here.

Provide 3 most recent bank statements or proof of sufficient funds to be used during your travels. Applicant's name should appear on statements.

Leasing contract for a residence or document demonstrating house ownership in the name of the applicant, or a document demonstrating ownership of a vehicle or commercial, business or industrial properties.

Ireland Statement of Undertaking form filled out by the applicant. 

An official application letter written by the inviting organization addressed to the Main Department for Immigration and Nationality Affairs of Ethiopia ans stating that an organization/company has officially requested a visa for you.

If the applicant has previously obtained an Ireland visa that is not on the same passport they must provide a copy of the previous visas as well as the information page of the passport in which the visa was issued.

A copy of hotel reservations or other lodgings for the duration of the trip. The applicant's name must be on the reservation.

Proof of adequate funds for the duration of applicant’s stay in Ireland

A copy of the applicant's mortgage or lease. If renting without a lease, please submit a letter from the owner of the house stating the duration and the contract terms of your stay.

The proof of the filled out form will need to be presented at control points.

Enclose the documents from Section 1 (Gather Documents for your Ireland  Visa) and a print out of your order confirmation in an Overnight Envelope (Fedex, UPS, etc).
