How to find the Best Deals for Spring Break Travel

I know.  I know.  We just got through the holidays, and we’re already talking about spring break?  Well, as they say, the early bird gets the worm.  And if you want to get the best deals on your spring break get-a-way, you better…

Start shopping now
If you want to get the best rates on airfare and hotels, start shopping now.  Airfare predictors like Bing Travel and FareCompare can help you monitor trends.  Sign up for their airfare alerts and you’ll automatically be notified when prices drop.  If you start now, you’ll have plenty of time to wait for the sweet deals.

Always check airfare rates at Tuesday , 3pm Eastern Time.
Rick Seany, a notable travel air travel expert and founder of FareCompare.com says this is when all the best airfare deals are introduced.  Do your queries every week at this time and you’re bound to score a good price.

Be flexible with dates and times
According to TerraCurve.com, “a seven-night Tuesday to Tuesday or Wednesday to Wednesday trip saves on average 22 percent and about $86 less than traveling on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.”  This can add up to big savings for a family of four.  Also, sometimes adjusting your travel dates one week forward or backward can have a big effect on hotel and airfare prices.

Students should look for packages and special deals.
There are tons of packages out there.  Student travel agencies like STA Travel, and websites like Student Travel Deals can help you find the best options.  If possible, book as a group to save even more.

Book by mid-February
Rick Seaney continued on to explain that by mid-February, many of the best deals have been sold out and hotels and airlines will then try to push their standard rates.  If you can have your plans booked before then, you stand the best chance of coming out ahead.
